"Strawberries" by Tanya Powell

This weeks try something new* project was another artistic stretch for me. I painted along via video with another watercolor artist, Maria Raczynska. Many of her demonstration tutorials may be found on youtube.com. The link to this tutorial is listed below.
This painting required many layers and the variety of colors used to create those red strawberries was not what I expected. To achieve the dark coloring required a lot of time to to build up the layers. The colors used to achieve those red berries were violet, cad red and rose madder in varying hues.
The most difficult part of this project was getting the shape of the strawberries just right. I hope to repeat this project again and I will attempt to use a darker background that would suggest a field of strawberries. Possibly adding longer stems that go off the paper. I would also add the Winsor Newton product Chinese white paint (opaque white) to indicate highlights. I did not have any in my supplies for this project.
