Abstract Paintings by Tanya Powell

A local art instructor critiqued my work recently.  It went better than I expected.  In his opinion he thought that I should try to paint some abstract paintings.  I decided I would take his suggestions and try it out.

"The Range", inspired the plains out west.  Not really an abstract but not really a landscape.  That is what art is to me, what you decide it is.  I decided this painting is abstract.

"Mid-Day", desert inspired painting.

This painting is "Afternoon Sun", seeing through different lenses at the environment.  This afternoon is linear in nature.

This painting is "Windows" a watercolor project.  So many times in life we feel like we are pressing our noses against the windows as we walk by them.  Looking in but not being a part of what we see.

"Flowers at Night", acrylic

"The Prism", acrylic
